"This campaign aims to lower the number of road accidents, considering the increase in the number of bikers and the constant traffic jams. People tend to forget about us when engaged in traffic, but we hope they will notice us more often from now on, look into their rearview mirrors more often and be much more careful, but we also hope everybody will show much more respect in traffic," Filip Pitaru, one of the members of the Romanian Bikers’ Association (AMR) told MEDIAFAX.
The rally is part of the campaign "Do not ignore bikers in traffic!" organized by the aforementioned Association.
Bikers also announced other marches Saturday throughout the country in the following cities: Timisoara, Cluj, Constanta, Calarasi, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Bistrita, Giurgiu, Brasov, Sibiu, Iasi, Zalau, Cugir/Alba, Arges, Hunedoara, Fagaras, Targoviste, Oradea, Galati, Baia Mare, Campina and Buzau.
Several Romanian VIPs, among whom, former footballer Gabi Balint, pop singers Roxana Andronescu and Dan Bittman, actors Mugur Mihaescu and Andrei Duban, advertising art director Bogdan Naumovici and politician Cozmin Gusa, also joined the march.
