"Regarding the completion of highway kilometers this year, I could say a large number, but by complete I understand those that can be entered and left. There would be some 30 kilometers complete on the Bucharest-Ploiesti highway this year, but between some bridges, and about 40-45 on the Transylvania highway. That’s about it this year," Berceanu said.
HE added in 2009 the state budget will finance five road infrastructure projects, namely the Transylvania and Bucharest-Ploiesti highways, the Ploiesti western ring road, the Baneasa passage and the widening to four lanes of the current Bucharest ring road.
At the same time, the minister said that from the ministry’s budget for this year, namely RON10.6 billion, RON2.4 billion will be directed towards the road infrastructure.
Berceanu could not say, however, the amount directed towards the railroad infrastructure.
