Basescu requested Friday that the Parliament re-examine the Law approving Government Ordinance no. 5/2010, which amends article III section (1) of Government Ordinance no. 3/2007, regarding certain financial-fiscal measures in the field of social protection.

Ordinance no. 5/2010 extends the period during which the state will provide the equivalent of newborns’ trousseaus to the end of 2010, so that this right can be granted to children born after December 31, 2009.

The president pointed out that the Ordinance has been repealed by Law no. 118/2010, concerning certain measures to restore budgetary balance, published in the Official Journal on June 30, 2010, therefore the Law he was asked to promulgate is meaningless.
