Romania’s Ruling Coalition To Meet Ctrl Bker For Anti-Crisis Program Talks

Gheorghe Flutur, vice-president of the Democratic Liberal Party, part of the ruling coalition, stated Monday that the coalition would meet central bank governor Mugur Isarescu for talks on the anti-crisis program that needs to ensure the economic stability of the country.

Flutur said the meeting would most likely take place this week.

Isarescu stated last week that financing the budget deficit at reasonable costs is essential for Romania under the current circumstances, when even covering a low level, of 2% of the gross domestic product, may prove to be difficult.

The governor said a deficit of almost 3% of the GDP equals more than 16 billion lei (EUR1=RON4.2975), which is not easy to finance under the current financial market circumstances.
