County police said a supplier delivered 20 tons of hydrochloric acid to the nuclear power station, and the cistern has been in the parking lot since Friday. The driver was no where to be found.

The area has been sealed and power station employees are taking measures to neutralize the acid.

Teodor Chirica, general manager of Nuclearelectrica, which operates the plant in Cernavoda, said the incident is minor and poses no threat to the plant’s security.
