The prime minister, who is also the head of the ruling Democratic Liberal Party, had a meeting Saturday in Drobeta Turnu Severin, southwestern Romania, with about 250 of the party’s local mayors, county council heads and some of the Cabinet ministers.

„I have warned our colleagues that their political affiliation will not be considered when we start terminating contracts for EU-funded projects that are not implemented within the set terms and conditions,” Boc said.

Party vice-president Gheorghe Flutur said after the seven-hour meeting, held behind closed doors, that talks focused on local authorities’ priorities for 2011, decentralization and EU-fund absorption.

Romania may access over EUR30 billion in non-reimbursable funds from the European Union until 2013.
