Steaua Bucharest kicked off their UEFA Europa League campaign on Thursday with a 2-0 home victory over Hungarian contenders Ujpest FC, in the first-leg meeting of the second qualifying round.

Forward Romeo Surdu scored the first goal 46 minutes into the game, while Bogdan Stancu got past Balajcza’s defense in the 71st minute.

The second-leg meeting will take place in Hungary on July 23.
