Romanian Econ Min Changes Transgaz Board, Names New Pres

The Romanian Economy Ministry, the majority shareholder of state-owned gas pipeline operator Transgaz (TGN.RO), appointed Tuesday five members of the company’s Board of Directors, and a new board president, namely Victor Alexandru Schmidt, a director in the ministry.

The new Transgaz board members, namely Victor Schmidt, Mihai Busuioc, Mihai Albulescu and Ionica Raicu, replaced Nicolae Turdean, Constantin Zidaru, Elena Ianda and Nicolaie Simescu, whose mandates expired.

Transgaz’s general manager Ioan Rusu received a new mandate as a Board member.

Transgaz is listed on the Bucharest Stock Exchange and operates a network of 13,110 kilometers of gas pipes.

April 24, the company’s shares closed at 136 lei (EUR1=RON4.2290), up 5.43% on the day. The company’s market value was at RON1.6 billion.
