Romania’s Average Net Salary Drops 0.7% on Month in January

The net average salary in Romania declined 0.7% in January compared with December, to 2,936 lei (around EUR617), after holiday and end of the year performance bonuses granted in December, data from the country's statistics board showed Wednesday.

The gross average salary stood at RON4,837 in January, 2% lower than in December.

The best paid employees in January were in the IT&C industry, making a net average of RON6,768 a month, while the lowest paid employees were in clothing manufacturing, with an average RON1,718 a month, the data showed.

Compared with January 2018, the average net wage in Romania grew 18.2% in nominal terms and 14.4% in real terms.
