Romania’s Govt To Meet Before Parliament Votes On No-Confidence Motion To Oust Govt

„The Prime Minister urged ministers to check what measures need to be enforced by emergency ordinances and several ministers have already drawn draft emergency ordinances. The Government might thus meet Monday in a session to approve emergency ordinances before the Parliament votes on the no-confidence motion to oust the Cabinet,” the sources said.

Prime Minister Emil Boc said Tuesday the Government would continue its activity, but without adopting ordinances or emergency ordinances until a new Executive is set up if the Parliament votes the no-confidence motion to overthrow the Government.

Romanian liberals, in opposition, submitted Tuesday at the Chamber of Deputies speaker’s office a no-confidence motion to overthrow the country’s all-democrat liberal government, which lacks parliament majority since social democrats switched to opposition. The no-confidence motion is signed by liberals, the Hungarian minority party and seven social democrats.
