Nuclearelectrica said the process caused no dangerous emissions for the plant’s personnel, population or environment.
The second nuclear reactor started functioning at full capacity early November subsequent to the 12-day final overhaul. It shut down automatically on November 7 due to a minor technical malfunction and restarted operations two days later.
The reactor was connected to the national grid for the first time on August 7, following investments of some EUR930 million.
The power plant in Cernavoda operates with two reactors, which provide a total supply of around 18% of the national electricity demand.
The plant has initially been designed to have five reactors, 700 Megawatt each, on Canadian CANDU-type technology.
