According to weather administration authority ANM, rain is expected in the northern and northeastern parts of the country Monday morning through Tuesday morning, and precipitation will exceed 20 liters per square meter and even 40 liters per square meter in some areas.
The code yellow rainfall alert is valid for the counties of Suceava, Botosani, Neamt, Iasi, Bacau, Vaslui, Vrancea, Galati, Covasna, Harghita, Mures, Bistrita-Nasaud and Maramures.
Meteorologists said weather instability is also expected in the central and southern parts of the country.
Romanian hydrologists issued a code red flood warning for the river Prut, Botosani County, and the river Negru, Covasna County, valid from Sunday 4 p.m. until the same time Tuesday. They also issued a code orange warning valid for the same period, concerning the rivers Siret and Suceava, in the counties of Suceava, Botosani, Iasi, Neamt, Bacau and Vrancea, and the rivers Tarnava Mica and Tarnava Mare, in the counties Sibiu, Mures and Alba.
