Romania’s Telecom Co CFR Telecomunicatii To Execute Works Only On Sun Highway – Min

Romania’s transports minister Ludovic Orban denies having ordered that only telecom company CFR Telecomunicatii install signaling and pay phone systems on highways, since the company was assigned to execute such works only on the Sun Highway.

Romania’s former minister of transports, democrat senator Radu Berceanu, said Thursday that CFR Telecomunicatii was assigned the contract for the execution of such works on all highways, although Spanish company Telvent had won the auction."   
 
Berceanu also said that Orban supposedly ordered that all such works on highways be directly assigned to CFR Telecomunicaţii without organizing any auction whatsoever.
In his turn, Orban stressed that the contract can be legally transferred to CFR Telecomunicatii.
Moreover, Orban asked Berceanu to explain why he never expressed interest in the country’s highway monitoring system during his eight-month mandate as transports minister.
