Alma Mater’s planned strike actions match the ones recently announced by the Federation of Free Unions in Education, or FSLI.
The unionists are discontent that the government passed an ordinance delaying the enforcement of a 50% wage hike for staff in the educational system until April next year.
According to Alma Mater’s president, Razvan Bobulescu the government breached the Constitution by postponing the enforcement of the law on teachers’ wages.
“We have obtained only a moral victory with the promulgation of the law, a victory that compels the governing authorities to enforce the law. Another obligation of the government-to-be is to draw up a sole wage law, which will hopefully settle the matter of non-teaching personnel in the education system,” Bobulescu said.
