Last year, Bucharest ranked 30th in the same chart, but this year it only outranks Athens, which was put in last place.
The top three destinations for business remain the same as last year, namely London, Paris and Frankfurt. The next positions are taken by Brussels, Barcelona, Amsterdam, Berlin and Madrid.
Criteria used in the survey included the quality of external transport links, telecommunications, access to other markets, staff quality and costs, office rents and the quality of life of employees.
Access to other markets and clients was considered the top criterion by 61% of respondents, while 58% focus on the availability of qualified staff and 55% seek good quality telecommunications.
In terms of easy access to markets and external transport links, Bucharest ranks last among the 36 cities analyzed.
However, in terms of value for money of office space, Bucharest ranks 21, after ranking 9 last year. Also, in terms of office space availability, Bucharest ranks 24.
Moreover, Bucharest was outranked by Warsaw in terms of staff costs. Last year, Bucharest ranked first in this category, but now it has been knocked down to the fifth position.
When it comes to the climate created by governments, Bucharest ranks 19 this year, after ranking 5 last year. In terms of the quality of life for employees, Bucharest ranks 33.
The only criterion by which Bucharest saw progress is the one regarding languages spoken. In this category, Bucharest climbed to the 27th position, after ranking 29 last year.
The survey was unfolded independently for Cushman & Wakefield by TNS BMRB, which interviewed senior executives from 500 companies.
