Iliescu said the Democratic Liberal Party has no backbone, has moved from the left wing to the right over night and social democrats exclude any potential collaboration with this party.

"In the European Parliament there is a rightist group which is non-liberal. Our democrats joined that group. They can adapt to anything and this is blatant opportunism,” Iliescu said.

Asked whether the Social Democratic Party is considering collaboration with other political parties after local elections, Iliescu said the Liberal Party would be considered.

“At least we know who we’re dealing with and we can clearly see the differences between our doctrines as well as our similar platforms,” Iliescu said.
