Romania Health Min To Open Two New SMURD Emergency Services By Fall

Romania’s Ministry of Health will open two new emergency rescue service (SMURD) units in the country by fall, in the counties Brasov and Constanta, central and southeast Romania, respectively, minister Eugen Nicolaescu said Saturday.

“By fall we will have set proper parameters to start operation at two SMURD units, in Brasov and in Constanta, respectively. We have considered these two locations because they are two crowded areas from the point of view of usual road traffic and tourism flows in particular. I have already spoken to minister secretary of state Raed Arafat (founder of the SMURD service – e.n.) and the decision has already been made,” Nicolaescu said.

He mentioned the SMURD unit in Brasov will be set up following the example of the one established in capital Bucharest.
