Initially scheduled to take place in August in the central Romanian city of Brasov, the film festival was delayed due to “financial and management reasons,” Giurgiusaid.

"We didn’t succeed in managing the event successfully, due to lack of time to find partners for the event,” he added.

The mayor of Brasov, George Scripcaru, told MEDIAFAX in April that the project for the International Film Festival DraCOOLa had been approved following a meeting of the local council.

He said the mayoralty would assign EUR350,000-400,000 from its own budget and sponsorships to finance the festival. APFR received RON200,000 from the National Center of Cinematography to organize the DraCOOLa film festival.

A decision of the local council decision of March 31 approved the partnership of the Brasov mayoralty to organize the first edition of the «DraCOOLa International Film Festival Brasov», between August 4 and 10, 2008 and the mayoralty agreed to pay some of the expenses for the event.
