Romania Oct Late Payments On Loans Topping RON20,000M At RON6.8B

Romanian overdue payments for loans worth at least 20,000 lei (EUR1=RON4.2141) rose 9.9% on the month to RON6.8 billion in October, central bank data showed Monday.

The central bank’s lending risks division (CRB) said loans overdue by over 90 days amounted to RON4.1 billion, or 60%, of the total late payments.

Overall loans and commitments assumed by lending institutions amounted to approximately RON256 billion in October, slightly up from RON254 billion in the month earlier.

In January to October, the number of late debtors (legal and natural persons) rose 53.4% to 213,161 people, central bank data showed.

However, the total number of debtors dropped by over 3% in the first ten months to 996,225, from 1.027 million Romanians at the end of last year.
