Man Kills Himself By Jumping In Front Of Subway Train In Bucharest

One Romanian man, aged approximately 40, died Wednesday evening after jumping in front of a subway train at Tineretului station. Traffic through the station was halted for almost an hour, subway company Metrorex spokesperson Mariana Petre told MEDIAFAX.

According to the company official, the event occurred around 19:00 local time.

 
"One 40-45 year old man jumped in front of a subway train entering Tineretului station towards Unirii. Traffic was immediately halted and the power was cut on the lines as well," Petre said.
 
Intervention crews arrived on location and carried off the man’s body.
 
At press time the train that hit the man was pulling out of the station and traffic was to be resumed.
