Basescu highlighted, during a joint news conference with his Slovenian counterpart Danilo Turk, that the Transnistrian conflict tests the European Union’s capacity to offer solutions to end the conflict, as well as Moscow’s cooperation with the EU in achieving this goal.

According to Interfax, Medvedev said on October 19 that the Transnistrian conflict can be solved, adding this rests not only with Russia, but also with the Republic of Moldova, Transnistria, Romania and the European Union.

Medvedev reiterated that Russia will continue to support the need to solve the conflict in Transnistria and stressed the success of negotiations in this respect also lies in the hands of other participants in the process.

Basescu arrived Wednesday in Ljubljana for an official visit at the invitation of the Slovenian president.
