Romanian Beaches To Be Leased To Hotel Owners
In the previous years, the Seaside Waters Management agency organized auctions to lease the beaches, thus at times the beaches wound up in the hands of companies that had nothing to do with tourism.
Constanta city mayor Radu Mazare made this announcement at the end of a meeting attended by the environment minister, Nicolae Nemirschi, representatives of employers in tourism and mayors who have beach surfaces in the localities they manage.
Mazare added the hotel owners who get beaches will have to pay a minimum sum for beach maintenance works, as well as for other services performed during the summer season.
Mazare went on saying 20% of the beach surface will be communal and there will be a special sports beach, for football, volleyball and water sports. In addition, there will also be a residential beach for residential complexes wishing to own a small beach surface. The remaining surfaces will be divided between the hotel owners depending on the size of each particular unit.
Mazare also said in the Mamaia resort there might also be several luxury beaches and exemplified naming the owner of a famous club in Mamaia who would like to invest over EUR400,000 in such a beach.
