New Car Registrations In Romania Up Over 26% YOY In Oct

The number of new cars registered in Romania hiked 26.1% in the first ten months of 2007 from the same period a year ago, to 259,159 units, according to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association, or ACEA.

On the month, the number of new cars registered in Romania hiked 10.8% to 27,371 units.

Romania ranks eighth in Europe by number of new cars registered in the first ten months of the year, according to a report released Wednesday by ACEA.

The number of new car registrations in the European Union was down 1% in the first ten months, to 13.21 million units. The top European markets by number of registrations were Germany (2.62 million units), Italy (2.13 million units) and Great Britain (2.1 million units).

As far as Romanian brand Dacia is concerned, the number of new cars registered in the EU and countries members of the European Free Trade Agreement, or EFTA, increased 19.3% on the year in the first ten months, to 139,658 units, according to ACEA’s preliminary data.

The report includes record in European states excepting Cyprus and Malta and EFTA member states Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway and Switzerland.

Dacia’s market share in the region increased to 1% from 0.9% in the first ten months.
