Romanian Public Procurement Watchdog To Inspect All Hospitals Starting May
„We will begin an inspection of the way hospitals purchase antiseptic and disinfectant products,” ANRMAP president Cristina Traila announced Thursday.
She said there are many problems with the purchase of these products. For instance, at Bucharest’s CF 2 hospital, 13 of 34 procurement procedures were concluded through direct negotiation. Last year, ANRMAP gave out hefty fines for hospitals which breached public purchase procedures.
Romanian Prime Minister Emil Boc said Monday evening the Government will assess the situation of hospitals countrywide, adding healthcare units that do not meet specific functioning standards will eventually be transformed in shelters for the elderly.
Transport Minister Radu Berceanu said last Saturday he ordered check-ups in all 16 hospitals across the country under the ministry’s authority after two women developed severe infections following minor surgeries in a Bucharest hospital.
Amelia Antoniu, 36, first soloist of the National „Ion Dacian” Operetta Theater, and Alice Roxana Preda, 35, were rushed from the CF 2 Hospital to the Bucharest Emergency University Hospital last week and were placed in intensive care in critical condition, with acute respiratory issues following septic shocks.
