Draexlmaier To Temporary Close Its 5 Romanian Plants

German-based car parts maker Draexlmaier will temporary cease production at all its five plants in Romania, until the beginning of January, due to lower demand, the company said Friday.

"The harsher and harsher competition in this sector triggers a permanent structures optimization. In order to keep the jobs in Romania on long term, important investments have been made lately. The international economic events in the past weeks and months require new efforts to ensure the future. In order to compensate the low production demand in the Romanian units, we decided to offer extended holidays," Draexlmaier said in a press statement.

Draexlmaier has in Romania five factories in the western towns of Timisoara and Hunedoara, in center Codlea, in southern Pitesti and in nortwestern town of Satu Mare.

The company said employees will benefit from all salary rights during this period.

Draexlmaier has 45 units worldwide out of which 30 in Europe, five in Africa, three in Asia and seven in Central and North America.
