Romanian PM Urges Ministers To Cut Staff Spending, Issues Warnings
"The government decided that ministers would come up with a strategy until March 1 allowing cuts in staff spending, which will come into effect in March or April. If they fail to accomplish that, this will become a serious issue for the government. We shall see how things stand on March 1, following an in-depth evaluation, and the ministers who fail to cut staff spending in due time will have to find another job. This is not a game and both ministers and the Cabinet’s staff must handle things responsibly," said Boc.
Boc highlighted that the government’s decision on a 20% cut in staff spending must be applied starting March- April.
The government decided on January 22 to scrap 20% of the jobs in the central public administration, without targeting the entire public sector.
