Nicolai added that she, as well as president Traian Basescu, had something to lose through the Constitutional Court decision.
"If the Court maintained Basescu’s reason of immorality against me, I will turn to an international court, the European Court for Human Rights. I have been labeled immoral and incompetent, which is not acceptable anywhere in the world," Nicolai said.
Referring to the Constitutional Court decision, she dubbed it a "game" allowed to the president, one time and with reason, "in rejecting a minister." Nicolai said that, in this case, she is “definitely rejected.”
She accused the court of unprecedented deeds.
“The Court does, for the first time in its history, what the Constitution does not allow it to do: it adds text instead of interpreting it,” the liberal Senator said.
“Myself, as well as Traian Basescu, had something to lose through this decision of the Constitutional Court,” Nicolai said.
The Constitutional Court decided Thursday that president Traian Basescu has the right to refuse, one time, the proposition for the appointment of Noricai Nicolai as justice minister and that the Government is obligated to nominate someone else.
