Romanian 2008 GDP At RON504B, Up 7.1% On Year

In 2008’s last quarter, the GDP rose by 2.9% on the year, significantly lower than the 9.1% growth pace in the third quarter. In nominal terms, the country’s GDP stood at RON335.2 billion in 2008.

Romanian authorities expected a 7.9% economic growth for the full year 2008.

The slowdown in the fourth quarter was caused by a deceleration in all sectors, but mainly in industry.
