Dutch Citizens Detained Following Border Heroin Bust

The two suspects were detained and will be brought before the Maramures court with a 30-day protective custody request.

According to DIICOT, the two suspects tried to cross the border from Ukraine at the Sighetu Marmatiei border point with a vehicle registered in Germany.

Following a routine check, border police officers found a secret compartment in the inferior part of vehicle’s chassis, accessible from the front-right passenger seat.

The compartment contained 167 packages with heroin, totaling 84.3 kg of the prohibited substance.
