No one was injured and railway traffic on the route Bucharest – Brasov was halted.

Police, the emergency inspectorate and ambulances were rushed to the scene.

Stelian Parepa, chief inspector of the local transport police, said the train carried about 300 passengers. He said they remained on the train, in no danger, and another locomotive is expected at the scene to continue the train’s route.

A commission of the Romanian railway company CFR will investigate the causes of the fire, and one of the hypothesis is that of a short-circuit, Parepa said.
