“In the morning of December 10, ‘an open letter’ addressed to the President of Romania asking him not to give his consent to an alliance with the Social Democratic Party was sent to some editorial offices. The letter was sent from an email address that does not belong to the Group for Social Dialogue,” the group said.
The quoted source said the group’s e-mail address is [email protected], and the letter was sent from[email protected] .
The Group for Social Dialogue and the signatories of the “so-called open letter to the President of Romania” deny ever having sent such a letter to the President of Romania,” the group said.
The Group for Social Dialogue together with “the signatories of the so-called open letter to the President of Romania” firmly condemn “this imposture, manipulation and intoxication of mass – media”.
Contacted by MEDIAFAX, Romanian intellectuals Gabriel Liiceanu, Sorin Iliesiu, Gelu Trandafir and Mircea Mihaies denied having signed a letter to head of state Traian Basescu asking him not to give his consent to a governing alliance including the Social Democratic Party.
