Turner Broadcasting System To Launch truTV, TNT In Romania
The Turner Broadcasting System company wants to launch the stations TNT and truTV on the Romanian market, Gordana Duspara Moriarty, vice-president for Central and Eastern Europe and Benelux, said Tuesday in Bucharest.

According to the company official, the TNT and truTV stations, launched by Turner in the U.S. and which were later broadcast in more countries, could be launched on the Romanian television market.
Turner Network Television (TNT) was launched on October 3, 1988, and broadcasts classic movies. In 2001, TNT repositioned, as a station focusing on series and TV shows, under the slogan "We Know Drama".
truTV was launched on January 1, 2008, replacing Court TV (a name which is still used in Canada), which was first launched in 1991. The station broadcasts reality TV shows on topics including justice, police, crime, etc.
The Turner official also spoke of the plans for the stations Turner already has in Romania, namely Cartoon Network, Boomerang, Turner Classic Movies (TCM).
According to her, the ratings seen by Cartoon Network have been "exceptional", on the station's target, namely children with ages between four and 15. At the end of 2009, Cartoon Network had reached a rating point of 4.3. The official added ratings have grown by 17% and the station now holds a 40% share of the children's television market.
According to company data, the Cartoon Network and TCM stations hold some five million subscribers between them. At the same time, Boomerang holds some 3.2 million subscribers.
Turner Broadcasting System Europe offers some of the most successful and well known brands in news and entertainment - CNN, Cartoon Network, TCM (Turner Classic Movies), Boomerang and Adult Swim -, in over 100 countries in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. Turner Broadcasting System Europe Limited is a company within the Time Warner group.
Turner has been on the Romanian market since 1999, when it launched Cartoon Network and TCM locally. In July 2008, Turner opened a new office in Bucharest, appointing Cristina Valasutean as distribution manager.
