Romania Should Cut Stake In Upcoming Nuke Reactors – Econ Min
The other shareholders of EnergoNuclear are Italy’s Enel, Electrabel (a member of French group GDF SUEZ), Czech CEZ and RWE Power Romania, with 9.15% of shares each, as well as Spain’s Iberdrola and ArcelorMittal Romania, with 6.2% of shares each.
„My personal opinion is that the state should reduce its stake in the two reactors, to boost competitiveness in the energy production segment,” Videanu told a seminar organized by business daily Ziarul Financiar.
EnergoNuclear should build two reactors at Romania’s sole nuclear plant in Cernavoda, which already has two operational reactors that provide together around 18% of the country’s power consumption. The other two nukes at Cernavoda are scheduled to become operational by 2015-2016.
