"They are twins and they weighed 1.8 to 2.2 kilos at birth. They are in good health now and their wounds are nearly healed," doctors said, adding the twins now weigh over 2 kilos each and are being breastfed.
The fire of August 16 in the maternity ward of Bucharest's Giulesti hospital left three premature babies dead and eight others severely injured. Two more babies died in the following days and a third one died this weekend, nearly one month after the fire.
The other three babies who survived the fire are stable and under constant monitoring, doctors said.
Three people have been charged, one of whom was placed under arrest.
Florentina Cirstea, the nurse in charge of the maternity hospital's intensive care unit, was placed under 29-day preventive arrest on charges of manslaughter and unintentionally causing injuries.
The other two suspects, the hospital's technical department chief and the head of the neonatology department, also face negligence charges but are being investigated at large.
