The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry has not made any comment, and neither has the Romanian counterpart.

A source with connections to the diplomatic environment, quoted by the Ukrainskaia Prada, said: “The two have attempted to create separatist sentiments within the Romanian-speaking population of Ukraine, have financed non-governmental organizations and cultural companies which promote anti-Ukrainian ideas.” Also, they “received libelous information on the Ukrainian Government, planning to use it to discredit the country” internationally, said the source.

The source added that on the one hand, Romania, as a member of the European Union and NATO, is supporting Ukraine’s euro-atlantic integration, on the other it is using NATO and EU instruments to meddle in Ukrainian internal affairs, and that it is attempting to block the Danube-Black Sea channel project, which is vital for the Ukrainian economy.
