Over 35,000 Romanians Lose Jobs In Spain In Oct ’08 – Employment Agency

Nearly 32,000 Romanians lost their jobs in Spain in September this year and over 35,000 in October, which indicates that over 3,000 Romanians were sacked in one month alone, Romania’s employment agency ANOFM informed Monday.

The number of Romanians who lost their jobs in Spain and are registered with Spain’s Public Labor Department (SPEE) reached 35,300 in October, with the highest number registered in Madrid – 8,010, followed by the Valencian Community – 6,364, Castilla la Mancha – 5,140, Catalonia – 4,057, Andalusia – 3,709 and Aragon – 3,398.
 
The data registered by SPEE indicate that 31,703 Romanians lost their jobs in September, most of them in Madrid- 7,266, while other 5,991 in the Valencian Community, 4,228 in Castilla la Mancha, 3,553 in Catalonia and 2,909 in Aragon.
