U.S. Antimissile Shield In Europe Compatible With Future NATO Defense System – Romanian Foreign Min

Romanian Foreign Affairs Minister Theodor Baconschi said Sunday on private television Realitatea TV that the U.S. missile defense shield Romania along with other Central and Southeastern European countries agreed to participate in is compatible with a future NATO antimissile system.

In response to a question regarding the possibility that the U.S. antimissile shield deployed in Romania and other European states might become the base of a NATO defense system, Baconschi said Romania upholds the idea of making the two systems work together.

The minister added NATO’s European allies must ensure funds and technology, and make the necessary political decisions to have Europe protected from missile attacks.
