Dacian Ciolos, the Romanian nominee for the position of European commissioner, will be heard by the European Parliament on January 15, according to the schedule published on the EP’s site.

Ciolos’ hearing will take place Friday, January 15, between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. (10 a.m. – 1 p.m. Romanian time), in the European Parliament’s Committee for Agriculture.

Late November, European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso announced the structure of the new Commission. Romania designated Dacian Ciolos for the Agriculture and Rural Development portfolio.

The European Parliament will vote on the new Commission on January 26, 2010. If approved, the new Commission will begin its term in February.
