“A Romanian mountain climber died Wednesday in Mont Blanc, and a second one, also a Romanian national, was severely injured. He suffered multiple fractures and is in a severe condition at a near-by hospital,” Serbanescu said.
He said the Romanian authorities in Paris have information concerning the accident and are permanently in contact with the French authorities and the hospital to which the injured mountain climber was admitted.
Serbanescu said he cannot give information about the identity of the two, adding they are experienced mountain climbers, whose age is below 40.
A Romanian mountain climber died Wednesday while descending from the Mont Blanc mountain, in the French Alps, in an incident occurring at an approximate altitude of 4,000 meters, AFP informed.
The Romania fell some 200 meters and was found in a 15-meter deep crevasse in the Dome du Gouter area, according to the French Gendarmerie, quoted by AFP.
The climber’s colleague was also pulled during the fall, and is now severely injured.
