Nearly Three In Ten Romanian Townspeople Give Up Vacation This Year- Survey

Nearly three in ten Romanian townspeople will give up vacation this year, and another 16% of them will reduce their budget travel, according to a survey conducted by market research company 360insights.

The survey indicates that mainly elderly, low-income or jobless people decided to give up vacation this year. Also, people whose salaries were reduced tend to make the same decision. According to the survey, 36% of respondents, mostly youngsters , high-income people and people with income higher than in 2009, said they will not reduce their budget travel this year.

As regards income evolution in 2010, compared with 2009, nearly half of townspeople said their income is the same as in 2009, and 37% of respondents said their income has shrunk in 2010, compared with 2009.

The survey shows that people whose income has shrunk are pessimistic and expect a comeback in their income within one year earliest. Respondents whose income is the same as in 2009 are relatively optimistic, and a third of them estimate higher income in the next six months to two years.

In addition, 9% of respondents said their income has increased in 2010, compared with 2009, and half of them said they expect a new increase in maximum one year.

The survey was conducted during April- May 2010 on a sample of 80 respondents aged 16 to 64, living in urban areas.
