It said 104,000 tourists paid some EUR38.5 million total to spend the New Year in Romanian resorts, down 7% compared to the overall amount reported last year.
In addition, the amount cashed from tourists who chose to spend the New Year abroad was down 16% on the year to EUR6.638 million.
The most sought-after travel destinations in Romania are the resorts in Prahova Valley, center Romania, where the occupancy rate is estimated at 98%.
Restaurants and hotels in Romanian big cities, as well as rural pensions are among locations targeted by tourists for the New Year’s Eve, FPTR said.
As to foreign destinations, Romanian tourists prefer Austria, Greece, Turkey, Egypt, France and Tunisia.
