“We do not know an exact date of the last layoffs, but estimate the process to end by mid-December," Colgate-Palmolive Romania’s legal director Gabriela Popescu said.
The first layoffs took place on September 15, when 28 workers were fired, and by mid-December, all 190 employees should be dismissed, with a compensation package.
The company’s representative also said that the land and building of the factory will be put for sale.
The Brasov factory’s closing is part of a global restructuring process, she said.
Colgate-Palmolive said closing down Brasov plant will not result in halting its operations on the Romanian market, where the company is a top player on the toothpaste segment.
Colgate-Palmolive entered the Romanian market in 1992.
