Romanian President Agrees Magyar Party Should Be Part Of Govt – Party Leader

Romania’s Hungarian minority party leader Marko Bela said Friday that the party told President Basescu it would opt for a government formed by the democrats, liberals and the Hungarian party, and the head of state agreed that Hungarians should be part of the future government.

"The president agreed that we should be part of the new government,” Marko said.
 
He said the party did not claim any ministry and that will be an issue to discuss with the parties that will form the future governing coalition.
 
Marko said Friday, before the meeting with the head of state, that the party would like to be part of the governing coalition, to contribute to a stable and capable government. He added the party is also prepared to switch to opposition if it doesn’t find governing plans compatible with its own.
