Romanian Tourism Min Says Need For Govt Resources Will Keep Social Democrats At Bay
„I said the filing of a no-confidence motion is a test for the current government coalition, because one cannot be in power and in opposition at the same time. I believe the social democrats are much more interested in remaining in government for the human and financial resources they receive there,” Udrea said.
She added she believes there will not be any no-confidence motion filed in Parliament because the liberals will not attend the meeting held Tuesday.
„I believe there won’t be any no-confidence motion, since the liberals announced they will not attend today’s meeting. I don’t think a motion will be filed because the liberals were counting on social democrat support, which I don’t think they will receive,” Udrea added.
Asked whether the democrat liberals can govern the country without the social democrats, Udrea said this would be possible with support from other political parties or other lawmakers.
The Romanian government will take responsibility Tuesday for the law packs on national education, the unitary wage in the public sector and the reorganization of public authorities and institutions, in three successive joint meetings of the two Chambers of Parliament.
The government accepted slightly over 120 amendments to the three draft laws, less than 5% of the 2,680 amendments proposed by lawmakers.
Romanian liberal MPs found unconstitutional elements in the three draft laws for which the government intends to take responsibility, and a group coordinated by liberal Teodor Melescanu will formulate a challenge in the Constitutional Court.
