Romanian Democratic Liberal Party Leadership Structure Decided
The newly formed party leadership structure will also contain two vice-presidents – Adriean Videanu and Theodor Stolojan, one secretary general – Vasile Blaga and one deputy secretary general, Gheorghe Flutur.
Negotiation teams from the Democratic Party (PD) and the Liberal Democratic Party (PLD) met Thursday morning, at the PD headquarters for the first time after the union was validated. Talks targeted the structure of the resulting party.
Sources attending the talks said that the leadership team on a central level, for the new party, would consist of one president – Emil Boc, two vice-presidents – Adriean Videanu and Theodor Stolojan, one secretary general – Vasile Blaga and one deputy secretary general, Gheorghe Flutur.
Another topic in the talks was the name of the party resulting from the merger of PD and PLD. At the end of the meeting, PLD official Valeriu Stoica said that the name of the party will remain the same, and it will be “The Democratic Liberal Party,” while PD president Emil Boc said the same thing. Voices within PD had asked that the new party be named "The Democratic Party."
Stoica added that, on a local level, the executive structures would consist of 21 people, while the executive structure on a central level would contain 29 people.
The leaders of the two merging parties also discussed the structure of joint negotiation commission from the two parties. Thus, the statute or organization commissions will mostly contain the same people who participated in these negotiations since the beginning, while the strategy commission will contain democrat Adriean Videanu and liberal-democrat Valeriu Stoica.
