Union Leader Says Laid Off Nokia Employees In Romania Will Get Severance Payments
Union leaders at Nokia’s Romanian production unit said laid off employees will get severance packages, even though these are not stipulated in their collective work contract.

Union leader Valentin Ilcas said Monday, after a new round of negotiations with the plant's management, that Nokia Romania assured employees left jobless after the plant shutdown would get severance pay.
He added negotiations are set to continue throughout October.
Nokia announced recently it will shut down its Romanian production facility by the end of the year and move operations to Asia. The move will leave 2,200 people jobless.
