The initial announcement made at the end of the vote count said only two votes had been against lifting the former minister’s immunity.
Three votes were cancelled and democrat liberal lawmakers refused to attend the vote, saying there already is an approval for the start of prosecution against Ridzi and it would be nonsense to vote o lift her immunity twice.
Lawmakers debated the legal committee’s report a few weeks ago but hadn’t given it a final vote. The committee’s report stated a the parliamentary inquiry committee investigating the minister found evidence of embezzlement and called for her prosecution.
On September 16, Ridzi filed a criminal complaint with the General Prosecutors’ Office against the members of the parliament inquiry committee investigating the manner in which the „Youth Days” event was organized in May this year.
On June 23, the Chamber of Deputies approved the setting up of an inquiry committee to probe allegations of fund misappropriation against Ridzi.
The allegations of fund misappropriation were forwarded by liberal lawmakers, who claimed Ridzi mishandled money allocated for organizing the celebrations on Youth Day.
