Eleven Dead, Three Severely Injured In Plane Crash In SE Romania
Constanta ambulance service representative Marian Beciu said the three survivors suffered severe burns and injuries and are in a bad condition.
According to ambulance service sources, the plane crashed soon after taking off and burst into flames when it hit the ground. The 14 people aboard the plane were members of the crew and parachute jumpers.
The AN-2 plane belonged to Boboc Air Force Application School, in Buzau county, and was on a parachute training mission, said the Romanian Defense Ministry.
People close to the investigation said the flight school commander, Nicolae Jianu, is among those who died in the crash.
Defense Minister Gabriel Oprea will set up an investigation commission to determine the cause of the accident. Constanta prefect Claudiu Palaz said military prosecutors have already started investigations.
