The Central Electoral Bureau informs that 11.67 % of Romanian citizens went to elect their officials for the European Parliament until 13.00 local hour.

In urban areas, 10.11 % of people exercised their right to vote while in rural areas the percentage rose to 13.84 %.

In 21 counties turnout at voting sections rose above the national average.

The lowest turnout, of 9.12 %, was registered in Bucharest.

The highest percentage countrywide at 13.00 local hour was registered in Harghita county 17.83 %, followed by Covasna – 15.42%, Vaslui – 15.16%, Salaj – 14.67%, Teleorman – 14.61%.

The lowest turnout was registered in Timis – 9.42%, Ilfov – 9.57 %, Prahova – 9.86 % and Maramures – 10.35 %.

The turnouts in the other Romanian counties are as follows: Alba – 10.90%, Arad – 10.45%, Argeş – 10.41%, Bacău – 13.23%, Bihor – 12.49%, Bistriţa-Năspăud – 10.81%, Botoşani – 13.86%, Braşov – 10.89%, Brăila – 10.83%, Buzău – 12.49%, Caraş-Severin – 11.17%, Călăraşi – 11.37%, Cluj – 10.79%, Constanţa – 12.72%, Dâmboviţa – 12.70%, Dolj – 11.78%, Galaţi – 11.77%, Giurgiu – 10.93%, Gorj – 10.53%, Hunedoara – 11.76%, Ialomiţa – 11.05%, Iaşi – 12.25%, Mehedinţi – 12.47%, Mureş – 12.61%, Neamţ – 13.20%, Olt – 13.35%, Satu Mare – 11.03%, Sibiu – 10.37%, Suceava – 11.39%, Tulcea – 14.01%, Vâlcea – 11.58%, Vrancea – 14.56%.

The margin of error is of +/- 3% for 2,586 voting sections throughout Romania.
