Nicolaescu said the elimination of ceilings is not an electoral step, as it was announced back in May and was to be applied when the system was ready.

"The system is ready now," Nicolaescu said.

Earlier this week, he said the measure aims to prevent situations when people are unable to obtain their compensated drugs because drugstores reach their monthly quota for compensated prescriptions.
